By Road
Acharacle is a small Highland village on the shore of Loch Shiel with the Loch Shiel House Hotel at its centre close to the general store, post office, café and outdoor shop. The A861 passes through the centre of Acharacle from the Corran Ferry in the East and Lochailort and Mallaig (A830) to the north and west.

The scenery along the entire length of this road is spectacular, passing along the edge of Loch Sunart from the ferry and then cutting across at Salen to Acharacle past Loch Shiel and on to Loch Moidart and Loch Ailort. The hotel is a great stopping off point when touring, or as base to explore the area.

Approximate driving times are two hours from both Inverness to the north and Glasgow to the south.
